“We are so moved by the hospitality of our partners here in Cuba,” said Hugo Rocha, general manager at Hola Sun Holidays, which joined travel media and agents in Cuba last week to not only celebrate its 30th anniversary, but to also host partners on its first FAM trip during the COVID-19 pandemic.

From Dec. 3-10, journalists and trade professionals were led along the pristine coastlines of Cayo Coco, Cayo Cruz and Cayo Santa Maria to connect with local suppliers and tour several beautiful resorts.

The energy and enthusiasm was high at each stop, indicating that properties are excited and keen to welcome Canadian visitors back.

“Every hotel that we visited on our anniversary day, December 5, they organized a special celebratory show, a special dinner, or a delicious cake,” as Rocha told PAX, which was invited to cover the trip, which was also organized by the Cuba Tourist Board.

“This gesture from our partners is evident of the spirit and hospitality of the Cuban people which generates a genuine friendship, loyalty, and positive vibes.”

On celebrating 30 years of Hola Sun – “The Cuba Specialist” – Rocha said that building strong relationships with partners to develop “the most extensive product line in Cuba” has been key to the company’s success.

“Our focus is on our customers,” Rocha said. “We aim to provide a high level of customer service, which allows us to maintain and increase our repeat clientele.”

“Many of our clients book with us year after year. They are our biggest promoters and are constantly referring us to their friends and relatives.”

Grateful for the contributions of employees, travel partners and loyal clients, Rocha said Hola Sun was “very pleased to have reached this significant milestone.”

The trip also coincided with Gaviota Travel Mart, a travel conference in Cuba, dedicated to MICE groups, leisure, and corporate events, that welcomed tour operators, retail agencies and hoteliers.

PAX was there to capture all of the action and to get some great property photos. Stay tuned for our comprehensive report, but in the meantime, here are a few teasers!
