WestJet Vacations commissions update

WestJet Vacations commissions update

Travel agents are now eligible for commissions from WestJet Vacations on new bookings where WestJet dollars are used as partial payment.

Effective Aug. 14, 2014, the tour operator will pay travel agents commission on the base package price (less the WestJet dollars) when using WestJet dollars to book a vacation package.

The offer is good for new bookings only. Multiple WestJet dollar accounts can be applied to one booking. A minimum amount of $25 WestJet dollars must be redeemed at one time for WestJet Rewards members; this requirement is waived for WestJet RBC MasterCard holders.

In addition, effective Sept. 19, 2014, the company is moving its commission settlement to IATA's Travel Industry Exchange Settlement Solutions (TIESS). Currently WestJet Vacations issues a cheque to travel agency partners on a monthly basis. This new process will settle commission by direct deposit into the travel agency's active account in TIESS.

"The reason for the change is to bring us in line with industry standard practices and simplify the settlement process for our travel agency partners," it says in agency release.
