Applications now open for Intrepid's 4 agent FAMs

Applications are now open for Intrepid's four travel agent FAMs to Mexico, Kenya, Indonesia, and a soon-to-be-revealed mystery destination in 2019.

“The purpose of running a FAM trip is to immerse travel agents in The Intrepid Group’s product," Shayna Zand, head of business development, Intrepid, told PAX

"Each trip is an exact replication of an Intrepid Group trip, so travel agents have first-hand experience of what our small-group, sustainable tours include and how they run. For instance, in Kenya, travel agents will explore the Maasai Mara, where they will spend an evening with the local tribes people, engaging in traditional customs. It is these type of personal experiences that a customer will buy, so having these stories to tell a client is a great asset. The better agents understand our product, the easier they’re able to sell it.”

The FAM trips are open to registered travel agents in The Americas. To apply, agents must attend the mandatory webinar that is linked to the FAM trip of choice. Following the webinar, travel agents must fill out the required post-webinar quiz and follow Intrepid Group Insiders on Facebook.

What do Canadian travellers want?

According to Zand, The Intrepid Group has seen a record 90 per cent growth rate in North American bookings over the past three years. Last year, industry growth exceed the company's already-high projections, indicating that travel agents are a key driver of growth. 

"In Canada, our most popular trips booked by agents were in Africa and Southeast Asia," Zand said. "This spurred our decision to launch two of the four FAM trips in these continents, so travel agents can get a better understanding of the destinations their clients are itching to explore."

The Intrepid Group operates more than 2,500 trips worldwide, and each trip is rooted in small-group, locally-led and sustainable travel experiences, though the types of travel experiences vary: hiking, biking, eating, cruising. 

"This year, we wanted to highlight FAM trips that explore one of our varying experiences because travel agents need to sell a diverse range of trips to their clients’ varying travel desires," Zand said.

Agent incentive: coming soon!

The Intrepid Group’s sales and support team is available 24/7, so travel agents are able to reach out to a sales team member for any questions or help they may need. In addition to agent FAM trips, on Monday, the Intrepid Group is announcing a three-month long agent incentive, promoting the company's partnership with its North American travel agents.

"We also continuously offer agent-exclusive discounts to support our agents in selling Intrepid Group’s products, because as a team, The Intrepid Group is dedicated to helping agents in any way we can because we firmly believe we are partners in growth," Zand concluded.
