It was a fun night on the "party-o" at the G Adventures Basecamp yesterday, where the adventure tour operator hosted agents from the Ontario region, based on those who offered top responses to a recent online questionnaire.
"The purpose of the event was to say thank you to agents who have embraced our brand, have a strong connection with our core values and have a passion for small group touring, exploration, and giving back to our planet," G's Sean Russo, global purpose specialist - Ontario, told PAX.
Bruce Poon Tip joined the group for a question period hosted by David Holmes, mayor of Basecamp, which gave attendees some insight on the company's founder.
For example, he admitted to some of his favourite places in the world by region (Tanzania, Ecuador, Tibet, Belgium) and when asked what industry he would go into if he had to do it all over and travel wasn't an option, his response was music...or publishing...but probably music.
Each guest was offered a copy of Poon Tip's book, Looptail, and one lucky winner went home with a trip for two on any of a selected six G Adventures itineraries.
"Travel agents are an extremely important aspect of our business – they’re the storytellers and professionals which countless people visit daily for their travel advice," Russo said. "We want to continue to nurture this relationship and create unique and fun events to engage and thank them for their support."
