From private jet journeys to Antarctic expeditions, Toronto-area travel agents braved the snow and got an up-close look at four niche travel companies during an exclusive trade engagement last night (Nov. 13).

The four companies – namely Quark Expeditions, TCS World Travel, The Moorings (the three companies are owned by U.K.-based Travelopia) and Explora – shared details of their latest offerings with agents, representing a range travel styles and destinations bound by a common goal: to offer travellers some of the most unique, exclusive and experiential itineraries available.

Here’s a look at the four companies and what they have to offer your clients:

Quark Expeditions

Specializing in Arctic and Antarctica explorations, Quark Expeditions offers travellers the chance to set foot in some of the world’s most remote regions, with itineraries featuring outdoor activities ranging from wildlife spotting to kayaking and paddleboarding, even a polar plunge for brave travellers!

Quark also debuted the World Explorer – its 176-passenger, all-suite expedition vessel – on last year’s Antarctica expedition season, while 2020 will see the launch of Ultramarine, a new exploration vessel featuring spacious suites, multiple outdoor wildlife viewing stations and two twin-engine helicopters.

Established in 1993, Explora provides travellers with in-depth journeys into the heart of South America, currently offering ‘hotel-based’ programs (in which each property acts as a base camp for exploration) in unique regions including Torres del Paine, Easter Island and Atacama in Chile; Peru’s Sacred Valley; Salta and El Chalten in Argentina; and Uyuni in Bolivia.

Several of these regions appear in Explora’s exclusive Travesia Atacama-Uyuni itinerary debuting in May 2020. A private journey of eight to eleven nights for just two participants, the program brings travellers from Chile’s Atacama Desert to Bolivia’s famed Uyuni salt flats in a 4x4 vehicle with plenty of exploration in between, with each itinerary planned between the guide and travellers according to their interests.

The Moorings

Dispelling the myth that a yachting vacation is out of reach for most travellers, The Moorings offers a wide range of options in various sailing centres around the world (from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean to the South Pacific), from self-drive (at approximately $999 USD/week per person), to a fully-crewed yacht charter (ranging between $2,500-$3,500 USD/week per person).

Agents also have the option of selling ‘cabin charters,’ where individual cabins can be sold to fill a charter, available in destinations including the British Virgin Islands, Belize and Saint Lucia.

TCS World Travel

Offering exclusive explorations via its fleet of private jets – from a 14-seat Falcon 900C to a 76-seat reconfigured Boeing 757 – TCS World Travel provides travellers with the opportunity to see the world their own way.

TCS has also partnered with Four Seasons to provide Select Escapes by Private Jet, aboard the hotelier’s custom-outfitted Airbus A321neo. The new collection will debut in December 2020 with Remote Wonders 2021, a 21-day exploration from the Serengeti and Rwanda, to the Seychelles, Bangkok and Dubai, with an exclusive stop in Angkor Wat.
