Avery Campbell has announced that he has left his role as director of advocacy and industry relations at the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA).
Announcing an “exciting new chapter” on his LinkedIn account, Campbell revealed that he has accepted a position at B.C. Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), a provincial crown corporation, as a community engagement and corporate communications manager.
“Working with the talented team at ACTA has been an unforgettable experience, and I am truly grateful for the friendships, professional growth, and opportunities that have come my way,” wrote Campbell on Thursday (March 23).
Campbell joined ACTA’s team in 2021 at the height of the association’s COVID-era advocacy work, which, at the time, was focused on securing financial support for travel advisors and lifting Canada’s border measures.
In a statement to PAX, Wendy Paradis, ACTA’s president, said there will be no gap in coverage as Heather Craig-Peddie, who retired from ACTA as vice-president of advocacy in 2021, is assisting full-time with advocacy matters in the interim.
Campbell extended his “heartfelt thanks” to all of his colleagues, partners and mentors “who have contributed to making my time at ACTA so enriching and inspiring.”
He said he’s looking forward to using his skills and passions to help shape PavCo’s community engagement and communications initiatives.
PavCo owns and operates two public facilities located in downtown Vancouver: BC Place and the Vancouver Convention Centre.
“I'm looking forward to becoming part of the PavCo team, working alongside a remarkable group of professionals, and making a positive impact for British Columbians,” Campbell wrote.
