Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel was recently applauded by Toronto Hydro for its on-going energy management and conservation efforts. The hotel received Toronto Hydro’s Customer for Conservation designation for a number of green initiatives, including the implementation of variable frequency drives on its cold water booster pumps and upgraded lighting with high-efficiency bulbs and devices. Late last year, the hotel completed a $13 million project that replaced all the windows and caulking in the 43-storey Queen Tower, and 11-storey Richmond Tower hotel. Through these conservation efforts, a total of 725,149 kWh of annual electricity savings was achieved, equivalent to saving approximately 2,287 trees, according to a release from Sheraton. The hotel also received a cheque from Toronto Hydro in the amount of $160,590.90, based on incentives offered by the saveONenergy program for implementation of proactive energy management and conversation projects.
