RIU Hotels & Resorts officially reopened the Riu Palace Las Americas in Cancún this past weekend, after a $12 million renovation.
With its Oct. 22 reopening, the hotel will be the chain's first in Cancún and the Riviera Maya reserved exclusively for guests over the age of 18, RIU said.
The hotel, built in 2004 on the beach of Playa de Cancún, maintains many of its original elements (including the hotel's iconic columns and crystal lamps), while offering a fresh and contemporary style with the introduction of new materials, colours and designs, both in its 372 rooms and in the common zones, the lobby and restaurant.
The chain has also introduced exclusive services with added value, including a welcoming glass of champagne, concierge service, a bathrobe, and for an additional charge, the options of enjoying a special wine list and a romantic dinner on the beach.
Guests will also have free WiFi throughout the hotel, including the swimming pool and the beach zone, and premium liquors at all bars and in the dispensers in the rooms.
The Riu Palace Las Americas has also added an area in the lobby dedicated to pastries and ice cream called Capuchino, as well as the Lounge 24 bar, which will offer snacks and beverages at night. Similarly, the buffet restaurant area and terrace have been expanded for dining outdoors. Lastly, the swimming pools and garden areas have also been renovated.
