The oldest luxury hotel group in Europe, Kempinski Hotels, is expanding its footprint in the North American market by taking over the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Cancún in September.

Starting from September 2022, Kempinski will take over a luxurious beach hotel in Cancun on the Riviera Maya.

With no closure of operations, this well-known property will undergo various improvements and adjustments to the Kempinski brand standards in the coming months.

Embracing Kempinski's DNA

In the transition period, the property will temporarily be called the Grand Hotel Cancún. By the end of 2022, it will be fully operated under Kempinski Hotel Cancun.

"During a three-month transitional period, we will ensure that we implement our Kempinski DNA in the operation of this outstanding beach hotel and that we extend our brand recognition by delivering the impeccable service and quality Kempinski is renowned for,” explains Bernold Schroeder, President and CEO of the Kempinski Group.

Outstanding opportunity for Kempinski

The CEO sees the addition of this North American property to Kempinski’s portfolio as “an exceptional opportunity for Kempinski to expand its presence in this part of the world.”

“Cancun is a top vacation destination for guests from The Americas,  who also make up a good proportion of our guests in the rest of the world as well as for Europeans," shared Schroeder.

315 guest rooms and 48 suites

Located in Cancún’s hotel zone, the elegant property offers 315 guest rooms and 48 suites, all with private balconies or terraces offering panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.

The hotel offers a wide range of facilities, including eight dining options (including two AAA Five Diamond Award-winning restaurants) and an exclusive club lounge.

There are also two swimming pools and a hot tub by the ocean, a spa with relaxation gardens and secluded terraces, a fitness centre with sauna and steam rooms, a tennis centre, cabins and private lounges on the hotel’s 400-metre beach, a beauty salon and a children’s club.

Many indoor and outdoor meeting spaces are available throughout the complex for incentive meetings, weddings, galas and conferences as well as events for large groups.

The property is 25 minutes from Cancún International Airport and downtown Cancun. High-end shopping centres such as the Kukulcán Plaza or the La Isla shopping village are within walking distance.
