The TWA Hotel, located at New York's Kennedy Airport has one way of keeping travellers cool.
Opened in May 2019, the new hotel features unobstructed views of the runway, alongside a pool bar, a 10,000 square foot observation deck with sun loungers, and restaurants, including the Paris Cafe, just a short walk from Terminal 5 and the AirTrain which connects all terminals.
The TWA Hotel will offer 512 guestrooms that were inspired by the year 1962, when Jet Age excitement electrified the country. All rooms provide views of the historic TWA Flight Center.
The hotel will also provide the following to guests:
- 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space that can host up to 1,600 people
- Six restaurants and eight bars
- State of the art 10,000-square-foot fitness facility with yoga, spinning and other amenities
- Museum devoted to the Jet Age, TWA and the midcentury modern design movement
- Classic Solari split-flap message board with authentic original mechanical operation manufactured in Udine, Italy
Inside the rooms
Paying homage to the Golden Era, guests of the TWA Hotel will find a 1950s Western Electric 500 phone retrofitted with a pulse to tone converter by Old Phone Works, where they can make unlimited free international and local calls.
Each guestroom features a wet bar custom built from walnut, glass, mirrors, brushed brass and crystallized glass.
The model room bar is stocked with the ingredients for a perfect cocktail hour: Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut Champagne, Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège Cognac and the Belvedere Martini with Belvedere Vodka.
A custom walnut entryway unit includes storage, a mini refrigerator and a hidden safe.
A custom Hollywood vanity with bubble lights inspired by Philip Johnson’s iconic ladies’ lounge in New York City’s former Four Seasons restaurant is another staple feature in the rooms. The glass-enclosed shower with linear drain is subway-tiled in white with midnight blue trim.
Inspired by the infinity edge pool at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France, the swimming spot has a beach entry and underwater seating — not to mention a gleaming TWA logo mosaic in the signature colors of gold and red.
Lounge chairs and TWA towels will be available at The Pool Bar & Observation Deck.
The infinity pool and its 10,000-square-foot observation deck sits on the horizon of a thrilling scene — JFK’s bustling Runway 4 Left/22 Right, with views all the way to Jamaica Bay.
The observation deck also provides a view of the famous Bay Runway — measuring 14,511 feet long (almost 3 miles!), runway 13 Right/31 Left is the second-longest commercial runway in North America.
Gerber Group will operate The Pool Bar & Observation Deck, serving food from a full kitchen and cocktails. Hotel guests are welcome to use the pool; non-hotel guests can make reservations. The Pool Bar can host up to 300 people for a private event.
