Coconut Bay in Saint Lucia unveils $6M property-wide upgrades

Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa in Saint Lucia reopened on Oct. 4 after completing a $6 million-dollar (USD) refreshment during its annual September closing.

Enhancements touched on guest rooms, the CocoLand Kidz Klub, the Wedding Center, tennis and basketball courts, the main bar area, resort lobby, hallways, and more.

“Our overriding objective is to make improvements enhancing all aspects of our guests’ experiences,” said Mark Adams, president & CEO of Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa. “Each year we set our priority action list using the suggestions and wishes our guests share with us and because we’re independently owned and operated, it’s easier for us to make them a reality.”

The resort’s spacious, multi-use Peter John’s Lounge received a complete makeover including new carpet and colour palette with new furniture arriving in time for festive season, giving it a more contemporary look and feel for evening cocktails.

After 9:00 p.m. Peter John’s is an adults-only space where guests can enjoy live entertainment, Rum Tastings at the Sugar Cane Rum Bar, and the weekly Chocolate Extravaganza. 

And the Piano Bar now features a granite countertop where guests can unwind during karaoke and singalongs.

Enhancements

Some enhancements have added speed to the Coconut Bay experience.

Guests will enjoy a faster pace as they show off their game on the resort’s four basketball courts and four night-lit tennis courts which have all been resurfaced.

Over at the CocoLand Waterpark, the island’s largest, the enclosed 400-foot Coconut Cannon and the 300-foot Coconut Coaster have been re-caulked and polished and are now “superfast” according to resort General Manager Zachary Frangos who personally put them to the test. 

The Waterpark’s 1,500 foot-long Lazy River was also resurfaced and repainted, and for spectators there are new railings on the overpass.

And, at the CocoLand Kidz Klub the team was hands-on choosing a fun colour palette for the 50,0000 square-foot refresh.

 Guests will experience a fresh new entryway on arrival, with new pavers on the front drive, along with fresh stain on the Lobby furniture as well as refinished partitions, handcrafted for the space by the resort’s carpenters.

At Kilibwi Corner guests will now have more room to browse in this expanded sundry shop adjacent to the Lobby. 

Both new and returning guests will appreciate the renovation of the Lobby restrooms.

They have been retiled and all new fixtures including the mirrors and lighting now offer not only a better day to day experience, but also for guests who have evening flights and want to refresh after a day at the beach and pools.

Two oceanfront venues were upgraded starting with new windows at the Sanctuary Spa providing a stunning view of the Maria Islands Nature Reserve and adding to the tranquil atmosphere while La Luna Restaurant, a favourite for celebrations and romantic private dinners, now has a new roof.

Poolside, the floor at The Cove, the resort’s expansive central dining and entertainment venue, was retiled.

New menu covers and updated menus have been reintroduced into the resort’s six à la carte restaurants.

In addition to a new wedding office, there are new restrooms at the Wedding Center. Improvements are also underway in the creation of the resort’s first official Bridal Suite, conveniently located adjacent to the Wedding Center.

This spacious suite will provide everything the bride and her party need to get ready for the ceremony.

There will be a large mirror perfect for admiring the wedding dress, the makeup counter with seating will feature both lamps and lighted mirrors, outlets will be plentiful, natural lighting ample and outdoor scenery photo ready.

The group will enjoy sparkling wine and light refreshments from the serving buffet and take time to toast while relaxing on plush new seating.

Coconut Bay’s 250 rooms have been deep steam cleaned, and new sofas installed in the adults-only Harmony Wing’s fourth floor rooms while the remaining sofas have all been reupholstered.

New in-room directories were created and have been reintroduced into rooms, though supply-chain disruptions delayed the same for soft goods.

Now scheduled for completion prior to the holiday season the new room décor and amenities will include drapes, bed runners, pillow shams, and lumbar pillows.
