Kelly Craighead, president and CEO of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the world’s largest cruise industry trade association, was recently appointed to Visit Florida’s Board of Directors.
Representing the global cruise industry, Craighead’s appointment begins July 1st, 2020.
The Board of Directors—comprised of representatives from key sectors of the tourism industry— is VISIT FLORIDA’s private sector governing body that provides guidance, input and insight into the evolution of the organizations marketing programs.
Craighead’s appointment was made by Enterprise Florida, Inc. in conjunction with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity prescribed by Florida Statute 288.1226.
“The cruise line industry is critical to Florida tourism and provides a significant amount of economic activity to our state’s economy,” stated Dana Young, Visit Florida president and CEO. “We are glad that Kelly will represent this important industry on Visit Florida’s Board of Directors. Her insight will be valuable as we collectively work to aid in the recovery of Florida tourism.”
Craighead added: “The cruise community generally and CLIA members specifically are vital to Florida’s economy, contributing nearly $8.5 billion in direct spend and supporting nearly 155,000 jobs representing nearly $8 billion in total wages and salaries in Florida every year. I am confident that working together with other leaders in the travel and tourism sector, CLIA’s voice will be useful in resolving the challenges of COVID-19 and getting Florida’s economy and people working again at full strength.”
