The first "Sell Your Way to the USA" incentive trip for winners has returned to Canada after a week of exploring incredible experiences in Washington, DC.

The winners travelled to Washington via Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) with Destination DC’s air partner, Air Canada.

Participants included Sandra Tompkins (of TierOne Travel in Calgary, AB); Kelsey Winter (of AMA Travel in Edmonton, AB; and Sue Kos (of Bee Travel - Flight Centre Independent, in Sherwood Park, AB).

The Washington, DC trip commenced on Feb. 9 and the itinerary guided the winners through national memorials, historic museums, local neighbourhoods and diverse cuisine.

Upon arrival, they began their itinerary with a tour of iconic monuments and memorials with private tour led by WeVenture.

They enjoyed a DC Mural Tour exploring the street art of NoMa, and took in the sights, sounds and tastes at Union Market.

They also experienced the historic Ford’s Theatre, the site of former President Lincoln’s assassination in April 1865, and visited world-renowned museums including the International Spy Museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Museum of Natural History.

Winners were spoilt with the diverse cuisine offerings, enjoying meals at Lapis, Bistro Du Jour and Sequoia Restaurant, which showcase views of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Memorial Bridge.

Theresa Belpulsi, senior vice-president, tourism, sports and visitor services at Destination DC, said the “Sell Your Way to the USA" program provides a mutual benefit as Destination DC assists agents with their destination knowledge through webinars and training programs, and agents receive fun incentives for bookings.

"We were ecstatic to welcome the first incentive trip for the Sell Your Way to the USA winners to experience the unique offerings of Washington, DC first-hand, and for our team to build relationships with consultants in an exciting setting. We look forward to continuing our work with the program to host another similar incentive trip in the future," she said.

Three more trips, including Oregon, Seattle and Utah, are on the horizon for nine other Sell Your Way to the USA winners in the next few months.
