Florida's Brightline begins process for new Treasure Coast station

Florida's Brightline intercity rail system has launched a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a new station planned for the Treasure Coast in the Sunshine State. 

Proposals under this RFP may come from private or public land owners that control property along the Brightline/FEC Railway corridor in St. Lucie or Martin counties and meet the qualifications, according to a press release. 

“We’re excited to begin the process of identifying a station location in the Treasure Coast and have seen tremendous support from the local community,” said Brightline Chief Executive Officer Michael Reininger. “Expanding Brightline into the Treasure Coast region will make Brightline one of the most accessible forms of transportation in Florida, giving access to nearly half of the state’s residents.”

Brightline currently operates stations in Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and opened its new station in Orlando on September 22, 2023.

Here are the following key dates related to Brightline’s RFP:

St. Lucie County Proposal Meeting
*not a public meeting
November 28, 2023
Martin County Proposal Meeting
*not a public meeting
November 29, 2023
Proposal Submissions December 22, 2023

 

All participants can view the RFP here. Brightline says it will host one-on-one meetings for eligible proposal applicants in each respective county. 

After receiving submissions, Brightline will begin evaluations with a goal of entering negotiations with the property owners in the first quarter of 2024.
