WestJet and Delta have launched a reciprocal top-tier benefit program for their guests.

Delta Medallion and WestJet Rewards members have been earning miles and WestJet dollars on either airline since 2014 and as of March 18, the airlines are further enhancing their reciprocal offering as part of a "shared goal to improve and deepen the advantages for their guests," said WestJet on it's official blog.

Qualifying WestJet Business cabin guests and top-tier Rewards members now have access to all Delta Sky Clubs when they fly an eligible itinerary with either WestJet or Delta.

In addition, subject to status, top-tier loyalty members of each airline will now enjoy the following when flying with the other carrier worldwide:

  • priority check-in
  • priority boarding
  • access to preferred seats
  • waived seat selection fees
  • free checked baggage allowance
  • priority baggage drop-off and handling

Top-tier loyalty members can also take advantage of priority airport security screening where available.

Full details on WestJet Rewards member benefits and eligibility can be found here.

“Over the past decade, WestJet and Delta have been working together to serve the needs of our guests on both sides of the border,” said John Weatherill, WestJet’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Once travel has safely resumed, these newly launched enhancements will be ready for business and frequent travellers of both airlines to enjoy anywhere in the world they travel with Delta and WestJet.”

Alain Bellemare, Delta’s executive vice-president and president-international, added: "These enhanced customer benefits help create a more seamless travel experience for our joint customers. Even though the transborder network is limited at present, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these improvements will be available as the network rebounds and customers are ready to travel again.”

A codeshare relationship

Delta and WestJet have an extensive codeshare relationship and offer real-time availability and the ability to purchase tickets in all booking channels.

Delta and WestJet guests can also book and pay for seats on any codeshare flight after buying their ticket on delta.com or westjet.com.

In addition, guests enrolled in the TSA Pre-Check program have the emblem printed on their boarding passes when travelling with either airline saving time and stress in U.S. airport security lines.

The airlines also offer similar onboard amenities such as Wi-Fi and complimentary in-flight entertainment.

Further information about Delta Air Lines and WestJet, including their enhanced safety measures and the latest information on COVID-related travel requirements, is available at westjet.com and delta.com.
