With tourism arrivals to Jamaica on track to increase for the 2014-2015 season, a wave of new developments are also being introduced. We got the scoop on the floor at JAPEX:
Moon Palace Jamaica Grande:
Set to open in early 2015, Moon Palace Jamaica Grande will be the first Palace Resorts property outside of Mexico. The former Sunsets Resorts Jamaica is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation which will result in modernized guest rooms, overhauled meeting spaces, upgrades and redesigns of the common areas, restaurant updates, the addition of a FlowRider Double wave simulator, Wired Teen Lounge and more.
Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa:
A 225-room, adults-only oceanfront property in Runaway Bay, Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa recently opened, centered on an all-inclusive health, spa and fitness theme. Formerly Hedonism III, this is the third Jewel property in Jamaica, and brings the total number of Jewel rooms on the island to 741.
Hyatt Ziva & Zilara, Rose Hall:
Formerly the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort & Spa, the Hyatt Ziva and Zilara properties will open on Nov. 23 with expanded facilities and more rooms. Owned and managed by Playa Hotels & Resorts, these properties cater to families and adults-only respectively. The concept is based around the "evolution of the all-inclusive product," with service standards and on-property experiences set to be a game-changer in the industry.
Riu Palace Jamaica:
Located next to the Riu Montego Bay, Riu Palace Jamaica is the first in offering the chain's exclusive Adults Only service. The newly built resort features 238-rooms and considered to be RIU's most luxurious hotel on the island.
Azul Sensatori Jamaica:
Jamaica's first Azul Sensatori hotel by Karisma Hotels & Resorts in Negril opened its doors last December. The 136-room hotel features seperate adults-only and family sections. Azul Sensatori Jamaica is Karisma's first property outside of Mexico, and its sixth property overall.
Royalton White Sands:
A luxury all-inclusive five-star hotel in the Montego Bay area, the Royalton White Sands opened in November of last year. Formerly Breezes Trelawny, the property was extensively renovated. It offers 352 guestrooms and is being positioned as an "all-in connectivity" resort, offering free in-room calls to North America and most of Europe, plus free Wifi access throughout.
