Flights still "significantly impacted" by cargo plane incident at YHZ

Officials at Halifax Stanfield International Airport are still advising travellers to check with their airlines if flying into the facility, following the crash landing of a cargo plane early yesterday (Nov. 7).

According to the airport, the 747 aircraft skidded off the runway before coming to rest just 50 metres from a chainlink fence, next to a public road. Four crew members were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries. Investigators are still determining a factor in the incident, although light rain and fog patches were reported in the area at the time of the landing.

While the airport is now open, YHZ said that flight schedules remain “significantly impacted,” advising travellers to check with their airline before flying.
