ACV makes air-only bookings non-commissionable

Air Canada Vacations has announced changes to the current compensation model on air-only bookings, citing “ongoing alignment of leisure sales structure with Air Canada’s.”

According to ACV, the following changes will take effect for all travel agencies as of April 1:

- All air-only bookings with ACV will become non-commissionable.

- All air-only bookings with ACV will be reported to AC, and agencies will be compensated according to their existing program with AC Sales.

- Agents may mark-up air-only bookings up to $50 per passenger.  A four per cent credit card fee will be applied for amounts over $50. There is no minimum mark-up required.

Amr Younes, ACV’s VP of sales, made the following statement to PAXnouvelles.com:

“Very few clients of travel agencies book only flights with ACV. Regarding packages, nothing changes. Air Canada will now determine resulting compensation whereas before, each entity had its own scale.”
