Vision Travel Solutions welcomed its travel trade partners to the company’s 2014 Holiday Open House last night, wrapping up a successful 2014 while looking ahead to the future.
Guests arrived at Vision’s new Toronto head offices – which opened in December 2013 – to catch up with the Vision team over the afternoon and early evening.
The event wrapped up a strong year for Vision, said Stephen Smith, VP Marketing & Communications, explaining that the company had a “fantastic year” marked by ongoing expansion and growth, including a recently acquired majority interest in New Wave Travel and the addition of Globetrotter Travel to the Vision team. Smith added that the ongoing integration of Farley Travel and Sunquest Meetings & Incentives (now Strategic Meetings & Incentives), which joined Vision in 2013, has also contributed to this year’s success.
“We’ve grown through acquisition and organically,” said Smith. “We’re very excited about the growth – both on the business side and leisure side. We just talked about how a lot of millenials are now using travel advisors, because they’re wading through the amount of information on the internet and realizing they need someone to help them make a good decision. People have said the traditional travel agent is dying but it’s to the contrary and we’re helping prove that.... we’ve also seen a lot of growth in business travel; we’ve seen about a 10 to 12 per cent growth throughout the year on the corporate side of things, so that’s very exciting.”
Looking ahead, Smith said that Vision is focusing on “organic growth” in 2015, including an increased public awareness through a new multi-pronged marketing campaign (ranging from newspapers to online ads) and growing the corporate travel side of the business by maintaining existing client relationships while acquiring new ones. Smith said that Vision is also continually adding home-based advisors to the team, citing the strong relationships created over the last year through the support offered by Vision to home-based agents.
“That’s an area where we’re seeing a lot of strength because of the support we provide them,” he said. “We see that continuing into 2015 – it’s being very well-received and we’re excited about that.”
