Club Med Québec Charlevoix will host the Travel Direct Group/Voyages en Direct's (VED) 2021 conference, the company has announced.
The conference will be held Nov. 25-28, 2021, at what will be Club Med’s first ski operation in the Americas and Canada’s only all-inclusive mountain offering.
Club Med Quebec Charlevoix, which officially opens to the public on Dec. 3, 2021, has positioned itself as a provider of easy-to-book ski vacations that encapsulate the Club Med spirit, Quebec’s regional wonders, while blurring the lines of indoor and outdoor experiences.
The 302-room property, which faces the St. Lawrence River, is aiming to create a one-stop shop, hassle-free ski experience through its all-inclusive formulae, Amélie Brouhard, vice-president, Canada and Mexico, at Club Med, told PAX in an interview last November.
"Of course, if for health or other COVID-related reasons it is not possible to hold a conference, it will simply be cancelled at no cost to attendees," organizers confirmed.
But Travel Direct Group, VED and Club Med are optimistic. "The chances that everything can be done normally, as before, look good," the company said in a statement.
The company decided to host their event at the end of the year, recognizing that more time is needed to get the pandemic under control, explained Richard Villeneuve, President of The Travel Direct Group.
"Also, we opted for a shorter duration for economic reasons, but also because we anticipate that by the end of November, agents will be face a very busy selling season," Villeneuve added. "Holding our conference in Quebec will minimize travel costs and downtime for both our members and partners."
Participating member agencies and their agents will be the first and only people to stay at Club Med Québec Charlevoix.
The G.O.'s, for whom Club Med is world-renowned, will be in place to provide entertainment and all activities will also be available throughout the event.
"Since we had already had a great conference experience at Club Med Punta Cana two years ago, we talked to each other and the idea of making this event a pre-opening event exclusively for VED member agencies was born," said Anick Dupuis, VED's vice-president.
The group emphasizes that the choice of this location is also a way to reward the "incredible efforts" of its agency since March 2020.
