Joshua Amiel has been named by Merit Travel Group as vice-president of sales and account management for MeritBiz, the company’s corporate travel management division.
Amiel will work closely with MeritBiz President Dirk Baerts for successful alignment of sales and new business prospecting in support of business growth objectives. In the role, he will have overall responsibility for developing and implementing new sales and client retentions strategies for MeritBiz.
Amiel, whose experience includes hotel management roles in the Dominican Republic and previous positions with Zoom Airlines & Go Travel Direct, said he was pleased to be joining a brand with a reputation for service-centric corporate travel management.
“I am eager to lead the team into the next growth phase, as we look at new ways to expand on current client relationships and explore new opportunities that make sense in the market space,” he commented.
“We are in a challenging but exciting time in our industry. To be relevant, we must understand our clients’ businesses, plans and goals, and consistently deliver on our promises to bring them easy and convenient travel management. MeritBiz has earned a reputation of doing just that, and I look forward to the continued progress we will achieve together in this area.”
Baerts described Amiel as a ‘very strong’ addition to the team. “He brings a wealth of travel industry experience in sales and account management, with local, regional and global accounts,” he said.
“Our promise to clients is delivering high-quality travel management services so they can focus on their core business, without travel becoming a time-consuming distraction. Joshua’s proven relationship-building and leadership skills are an asset to our team and align well with our brand promise.”
